THE LA JACARANDA STORY

We are originally from Lincoln in the UK but moved to Spain in 1999 with our boys. We bought La Jacaranda in 2001. When bought it only comprised of two floors, the living area floor of the villa and the bottom floor with two bedrooms and bathroom. We bought it with the intention of creating an extra bedroom for us and an apartment for my mother who was ill at the time. We knew as soon as we walked in the villa that the place could be spectacular. We even climbed onto the roof to see the views from there and immediately knew that was where the master bedroom should be. So work began and after a year the place was finished, pretty much as it is now. However sadly my mother passed away during the build so although she had been to the property and even sat under the tree in the garden, she never got to live here. We have a memorial bench for her in the spot by the tree that she claimed as hers.

As this happened during the build we turned the apartment into a large office for our business and at one point had 7 staff squeezed in there! We then moved to larger office premises and debated what to do with the apartment. We then decided to turn it into a holiday home and from 2002 – 2009 we rented just the apartment out for families to enjoy.

Meanwhile our children were growing up and our middle son got married and moved into the apartment with his wife and there they had our first grandchild and we all had a happy year watching her grow in such a beautiful place. However Spain was in crisis and neither my son nor his wife could get work so they decided to move to my daughter in laws home town in America. It was heartbreaking to see them go and as our younger son was moving to London we decided that the place was just too big for the two of us and it was time to move. We rented it out long term to a family for three years but after they left it in a state of major disrepair we decided the best future for the place was to share it with people to enjoy as a holiday home.

So 2015, was our first year for people to enjoy La Jacaranda as a whole. We knew it would be a perfect place for families, parties and celebrations as through the years we lived there we had enjoyed it all. We were proved right and had a very successful first year.

We had a memorable holiday in this stunningly located Villa , super comfortable and spotlessly clean. We stayed in the apartment that also comes with the villa which had everything we needed for some quiet relaxation or party time! It hides a secret games room with drinks bar and pool table, perfectly situated so guarantees not to disturb anyone in the villa. Conveniently located to the lovely town of Mijas with easy access to a choice of beaches and exploring the area. Highly recommend.

One of the most beautiful villas we have ever stayed in. Incredibly clean and cared for with lots of personal touches all around the house. The views towards the sea are brilliant and the beach in Fuengirola is only a 15 minute drive away. Communication from the owners was brilliant!
Would recommend anyone to stay here and we are actually planning to return next year for a longer period.

The owner Debbie was fantastic 😁. Booking process was great and everything was smooth with clear communication throughout!!
I booked a week with my family in August 2024. We were a large group aged from 76 to 3 years old.
La Jacaranda had everything to meet the needs and ensure we all got the best possible experience on our holiday. Children were all kept happy in the amazing pool, with a variety of pool toys provided by the owner. The older people had lots of quiet space to sit and relax when they wanted it.

The bbq area, terraces and gardens are amazing and very well maintained.

Inside the villa is huge! Debbie has ensured that there is everything to hand that you could ever possibly want. Everyone slept well in the comfy beds.

We hire a car for the week. It’s a bit of a hike up to Mijas Pueblo and would recommend people staying at the villa need some sort of transportation. There is a bus stop but we didn’t use it, so unable to clarify exactly where it was in relation to distance from the villa.

La Jacaranda is a very special place and we were all sad to leave. I would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a big villa to spend time with family and friends.
